The transforming Pokémon Ditto returns to Pokémon GO in August 2025. Despite a recent influx of new Pokémon in events such as the Water Festival 2025, Ditto remains one of the hardest to catch in Pokémon GO. Since Ditto made its debut in Pokémon GO, it has remained one of the most unique Pokémon due to the method required to catch one.
Ditto will disguise itself as a number of different other Pokémon, so it will never appear on the nearby map itself. You will only find out if you have found a Ditto, or not, after you have captured it. Despite this, there are a number of things you can do to help your changes of finding one this month.
All Ditto Disguises In Pokémon GO (August 2025)
11 Different Disguises To Look Out For
The most important thing to increase your chances of finding Ditto this month is to know which Pokémon it can disguise itself as. Once you know this, you can then attempt to capture them each time you see one, giving you the best possibility of finding Ditto.

13 Rarest Pokémon In Pokémon GO & How To Get Them
There are hundreds of Pokémon to catch in Pokémon GO, but some of them are rarer than others, like regional exclusives or Armored Mewtwo.
Thankfully, for those that have been trying to catch Ditto for some time, the list of Pokémon it can disguise itself as rarely changes. For August 2025, Ditto’s disguises remain the same as July 2025. Ditto can currently disguise itself as:
- Oddish
- Goldeen
- Rhyhorn
- Koffing
- Spinarak
- Numel
- Bidoof
- Solosis
- Gothita
- Bergmite
- Stufful
If you capture any of the above 11 Pokémon, there is a chance that afterward they might transform into a Ditto. Once you have successfully used a Poké Ball on it, if you are met by the message ‘Oh’, then you have found one. While a number of the above Pokémon are rare spawns, many are common. In particular, I have had success finding Ditto’s that are disguised as Koffing in recent months.
How To Increase The Chances Of Finding Ditto
Items, Items And More Items
You can increase your chances of finding Ditto this month by using several in-game items in Pokémon GO which can all be easily accessed. The first is by using Incense or Daily Incence. Both items increase the number of spawning Pokémon around your location. While this will not directly mean more Dittos will appear, more overall Pokémon will, including their potential disguises.
Ditto is also available in its Shiny form, and can be caught using the same method as its normal version.
Like Incenses, Lures can work in a similar fashion. Instead of dropping them at your location, Lures are added to PokeStops and give all players nearby an increase in spawns. If you find a number of PokeStops close to each other, dropping Lures on all of them will greatly increase the number of Pokémon that will spawn in quick succession.
While this is not a full-proof method to finding Ditto, the best strategy is to capture every Pokémon that you see which is in its list of potential disguises. It should be noted that the Ditto disguises may update at some point during the current Delightful Days season.
Ditto remains one of the hardest to find Pokémon in Pokémon GO, but by using items and by being aware of its potential disguises, you can improve your chances of capturing one this month.
